Hemo Concepts, Inc. appoints Steven Hill, MD

to Board of Medical Advisors

(Eatontown, NJ) -- Hemo Concepts, Inc., an integrated blood conservation company based in Eatontown, New Jersey, has announced that Dr. Steven Hill has joined their Board of Medical Advisors.  Formed in 1977, the Board provides medical consultations and expertise related to blood conservation for physicians and staff at hospitals working with Hemo Concepts. As the leader in integrated blood conservation Hemo Concepts has invited only those physicians who have shown enthusiastic interest and experience in blood conservation to serve with the Board, which presently consists of five physicians.

After completion of undergraduate studies at Duke University (B.S. 1982) and medical school at Vanderbilt University (M.D. 1986), Dr. Hill obtained Internship and Residency training in Internal Medicine at the Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, HI.  He then completed two years of fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, CA and University of Utah Affiliated Hospitals in Salt Lake City, UT.  Additional residency training in Anesthesiology at Duke University Medical Center was undertaken following completion of his military service in the U.S. Army.  He is currently an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at Duke.

Dr. Hill’s current research interests include outcomes analysis of cardiothoracic surgical patients, as well as oxygen therapeutic research and clinical trials of blood management strategies.  Serving as Co-Director of the Acute Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit provides an opportunity to continue cardiac surgical outcomes research as part of the Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Research Endeavors (CARE) Group.  Dr. Hill has been the project leader in the development of Duke University’s new Center for Blood Conservation.  As Medical Director of the Center, he plans to utilize Duke’s extensive clinical research infrastructure to help delineate optimal blood conservation techniques and develop safe and effective alternatives to allogeneic red blood cell transfusion.

Hemo Concepts, Inc., Eatontown, NJ, was founded in 1991 to provide hospitals with auto transfusion services (ATS), a method of blood conservation used during surgery. In 1999 Hemo Concepts began providing Integrated Blood Conservation (IBC) programs and advanced technology to hospitals and today serves more than 40 hospitals nationwide; providing ATS services, administering IBC programs and providing Blood Conservation Training through their Bloodless Medicine and Surgery Institute (BMSI).
