Hemo Concepts, Inc. Announces Affiliation with Fairview Hospital of the Cleveland Clinic Health System
Eatontown, NJ—Hemo Concepts, Inc., an integrated blood conservation company based in Eatontown, New Jersey, today announced a new partnership with the Cleveland Clinic Health System’s Fairview Hospital. This partnership Hemo Concepts to conduct its exclusive School for Integrated Blood Conservation at Fairview Hospital and Fairview to implement and utilize the company’s new, Evidence-Based Outcomes System, e-BOS ® for integrated blood conservation.
According to U.S. News & World Report, America’s Best Hospitals 2005 report, the Cleveland Clinic is rated among the top-five hospital systems in the country (and #1 in cardiac care).
Founded in 1991, Hemo Concepts provides products, services, training, and education to hospitals to help reduce the need for donor blood transfusions. Reducing donor transfusions produces improved clinical outcomes for patients and significantly reduces costs for hospitals.
Despite its best efforts, the U.S. health care system has not eliminated blood shortages, clinical problems, or the financial impact created by America’s reliance on an increasingly costly and shrinking donor blood supply. “Hemo Concepts has developed the solution to the crucial issue of blood supply challenges—nationally and globally,” said Damon Keeley, Hemo Concepts Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
“We are very proud and excited to be associated with Fairview Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic,” said Keeley. “These organizations have staked out leadership positions in the health care field and we at Hemo Concepts look forward to a satisfying and rewarding relationship in the vital field of blood conservation and beyond.”
Fairview Hospital has already identified the need for blood conservation. Its Center for Advanced Bloodless Medicine & Surgery “blends the individual values and interests of a patient with the latest medical and surgical techniques.” The result is a healthcare environment that supports a patient's desire for blood management by reducing or eliminating the use of blood or blood products in their medical care. The program’s team approach—physicians, nurses and support staff—offers special expertise and understanding of blood conservation and bloodless care.
According to the American Red Cross, the majority of its regional blood service centers operate on less than one day’s supply of blood. Chronic blood shortages, escalating blood costs, and the fear of transfusion-related risks have sparked growing interest in alternatives to exposure to donor blood transfusions.
